The behavior is very erratic, the caps lock warning comes and goes as
does the login ">".  Attached below is a video of my desktop.  You can
see that with no characters typed, turning capslock on makes a little
warning appear for an instant and then disappear.  Once you type any
letters, you get the > but the tool tip says Caps Lock is on and it is
not clickable (I'm trying to click it in the video).  Seems like a GUI
overlap issue.

This happens on 12.10.0-0ubuntu1 in 12.10 for me.
