eclipse-jgit is part of the 'jgit' source package
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jgit).

With jgit building, and eclipse-egit (a separate source package) FTBFS,
and each making a note to each other that older versions wont work in
newer versions, it would appear this affects *both* packages. I think
that the FTBFS issue with eclipse-egit is slightly worse, though, since
eclipse-jgit actually builds from source.
