I forgot to mention the theme I have installed is GnomishDark and not only the text boxes are a problem, sometimes other places are problematic too: like trying to attach a file to a bug report in this very same web page. The space where the text of the attached file should be shown is white: white font on white background... one can discover it by painting the text.
