Dear Dave, [how i wish i could sound like HAL, :)] I believe i have the upstream version of ALSA as per installations instructions - Ver 1.0.24.2 but to no avail. Just curious, though; this bug 997674 pertains to 12.04 whilst mine is 11.10, is it actually similar at all? Thanks a lot.
