Unfortunately, I'm still able to reproduce this with the latest version of Ubuntu. In my test this problem happens with .jpeg images and making Insert --> Picture --> From file. I attach a file with an image which causes the problem and a .doc file with the same image inserted (that is disappeared). Thanks
