Decided not to use firebird, tried to remove it and got this error. I understand that v2.1 of firebird is not their latest release. I followed the installation instructions on their web site and it could have been out of date. I found other instructions in Ubuntu forums that give additional information for installing v2.5 but did not try them. Perhaps this issue is caused by an out of date product. I though I should report the problem anyway.
