Today testing kernel 3.5.0-3-generic I had the same exact problems: If I use Nvidia drivers I am not able to logon to my session, If I use nouveau drivers the bug goes away. http://packages.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/223/builds/18187/testcases/1306/results.
