@madbiologist - I appreciate the efforts put into dealing with these binary drivers - they are huge pain to be sure.
Unfortunately upgrading from Lucid to a later distro is not an option - I must use this specific version for work related development. I'm sure this isn't a valid solution - but may be of use to others - basically I upgraded the nvidia drivers to 302.17 by using this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates/ # apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates # apt-get update # apt-get install nvidia-current I don't know what installing these do to the xorg server exactly, but it does help Lucid get a modern install of the nvidia drivers... I don't really understand why lucid-backports never include graphics drivers updates... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986371 Title: Regression in nvidia-graphics-drivers causes freezes in combination with gnome-screensaver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/986371/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
