This also appears to be necessary to allow mdns to actually work as
advertised for several versions of Ubuntu. I couldn't get my two local
computers to resolve to each other with 'ping' or 'host' by name until
this package was installed.

All 'avahi-resolve' would do is return the ipv6 addresses for the
desired machines, but the ipv4 addresses would not appear to resolve
outside the scope of avahi itself....

This is true for both stock Ubuntu 12.04 and 11.04.
