This also appears to be necessary to allow mdns to actually work as advertised for several versions of Ubuntu. I couldn't get my two local computers to resolve to each other with 'ping' or 'host' by name until this package was installed.
All 'avahi-resolve' would do is return the ipv6 addresses for the desired machines, but the ipv4 addresses would not appear to resolve outside the scope of avahi itself.... This is true for both stock Ubuntu 12.04 and 11.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986703 Title: libavahi-compat-libdnssd1 should be a dependency To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/miro/+bug/986703/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
