Ok, it turns out I don't need to muck with mythtv, it happens within a
few minutes of a md5sum *.mpg running. (This is lucky, because its a
hassle to get the fglrx driver working with the new kernel - just trying
compiling the quantal version on precise now)

So here it is with the upstream kernel, and this time a useful oops :-)
