For me this looks like a bug in Brother's proprietary printer driver
package. Your error_log contains
D [08/Jul/2012:11:46:10 +0200] [Job 65] Error: /undefined in UOVRJW
+Palatino-Roman*1
This means that Ghostscript errors out on a missing font.
I tried to reproduce it but not having a Brother printer I have used the
foo2zjs driver which has a similar architecture. In this situation the
file gets printed without problems.
Probably UOVRJW+Palatino-Roman*1 is a font requested by Brother's
printer driver. You should contact Brother about the problem.
If your Brother printer is an inkjet it is perhaps also supported by
Turboprint.
If your Brother printer is a laser it works perhaps also with generic
drivers coming with Ubuntu ("Generic PostScript/PDF/PCL-6/XL/PCL-5c/PCL-
5e Printer").
Closing as this is a bug in Brother's proprietary driver.
