Public bug reported:
The machine is a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop, running Dapper 6.06.1 with
all the updates installed. I'm running the latest Skype 1.3beta in ALSA
mode.
The problem is that whenever Skype receives an incoming communication,
whether a text message or a voice connection, the computer freezes for
some time. The time varies from a couple of seconds to above 3 minutes,
and it appears to grow with the computer (and Skype?) uptime.
I've contacted Skype support, and they are sure this problem is kernel-
related. I haven't observed this behavior with any other sound-related
app, but that may be because none of them used ALSA.
