Public bug reported:
On a new HP g6-2123us laptop using a Ubuntu Live CD (down loaded only
days ago, so is assumed to be 12) the application Thunderbird was
unusable. The Thunderbird window darkened and the application would
then be unresponsive. The windows tool bar could be used to exit the
program. Upon which the pop up message indicated the application was no
longer responding. The Firebird application was somewhat less
crippled. For example, one could left click on an HTML link and go
there, but right clicking on an HTML link would darken the Firebird
window and the application would become unresponsive.
I would have thought all this was a mozilla problem except for what
followed. It was suggested I use the XUbuntu desk top. I downloaded
the XUbuntu package, rebooted and selected xubuntu on the login screen.
After which Thunderbird and Firefox worked as expected.
I did not use the ubuntu-bug tool as (I believe) it would have collected
data on a working XUbuntu system instead of the problematic Ubuntu
system. I was thinking that would have caused confusion.
