the following command yoelds no return on my PC:
grep 1394 /var/log/kern.log

instead I tried a gedit:

although following http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=918822
I found the DV-signal-sending video-Camera movie is launched from Kino into the
camera with kino's recording clock running.

No image nor sound is displayed on the computer while reccording,
and by the end of the reccording, a file can be saved which unfortunately
contains nothing at all.
