Erase the state file, forcibly reboot after syncing (but not normal
shutdown), and attempt to reproduce it.
Alternately, kill $(lsof -t /dev/dsp* /dev/audio* /dev/mixer*
/dev/snd/*) && sudo modprobe -r $(lsmod|awk '/^awk/ {print $1}') && sudo
modprobe snd-emu10k1
