Ok, cool.  That confirms that it's a bios->drm video handoff problem.

The degradation may not be anything that you care about. :)  Not doing the
video handoff from bios to kernel means there will be additional flickers
(and possibly resolution changes) at boot time that we have tried to
eliminate.
