Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-media
I currently have a Logitech Z-640 5.1 channel speaker set connected to
my the HD Audio outputs on my Ubuntu 7.04 tower. It seems to me that
there is no MASTER volume for the sound device. Everything seems to work
just fine for the sound. No crackling, no lack of sound, and everything
sounds great. Only problem is that when I press the up & down buttons
to control my volume on my keyboard, ONLY the "Front" channel is
affected. The remaining channels, "Rear," "Center," and "LFE" remain
turned all the way up.
In every other OS I have used, the "Front" channel is seperate from the
master volume. When you press the vol. up and vol. down buttons, the
master volume will move up and down and thus, change the volume for all
of the channels available to play sound.
This is not a driver issue because my hardware is working fine.
Honestly, I never really noticed the issue until I connected my 5.1
setup.
** Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu)
