As I noted above, I tried all of the possible options, and none of them helped. The exact models I tried are (from linux-source-2.6.20/sound/pci/hda/patch-realtek.c starting at line 132): /* ALC883 models */ enum { ALC883_3ST_2ch_DIG, ALC883_3ST_6ch_DIG, ALC883_3ST_6ch, ALC883_6ST_DIG, ALC883_TARGA_DIG, ALC883_TARGA_2ch_DIG, ALC888_DEMO_BOARD, ALC883_ACER, ALC883_MEDION, ALC883_LAPTOP_EAPD, ALC883_AUTO, ALC883_MODEL_LAST, }; ... AND I tried the model=ref option, which is not in this list but is elsewhere in the source, which can be found by (whitespace edited to wrap better): [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.20/sound/pci/hda$ grep ref *|grep \" patch_sigmatel.c: { .modelname = "ref", patch_sigmatel.c: { .modelname = "ref", patch_sigmatel.c: { .modelname = "ref", patch_sigmatel.c: { .modelname = "ref", patch_sigmatel.c: { .modelname = "ref", patch_sigmatel.c: "available, default to model=ref\n"); patch_sigmatel.c: "available, default to model=ref\n"); patch_sigmatel.c: "available, default to model=ref\n"); patch_sigmatel.c: "available, default to model=ref\n"); [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.20/sound/pci/hda$ I can't remember the place in the source that maps the constants defined to the strings used for model=, but they are as you can probably see above close enough to see what the strings are for the options.
