Experiencing the same thing! Sharp clicking noise every ~2 s (when sound not muted). On a HP/Compaq 6710b laptop. Sound volume setting doesn't affect volume of clicking. Not sure what else to report? I'm thinking it could be some sort of hardware glitch?
