I ran into the same problems and would like to add a few usability
issues:
- New to kubuntu and I *don´t* have a launchpad account
- workmachine is screwed up due to no installation so no e-mail
- registering etc. but the bugreport which started all this is gone, no longer
available whatever.
So as for the crash you will have to do with a "me too" on this bug..

When i start the live ubuntu/kubuntu and install it with live installer, At 5
step of installation the live installer crashed, i try with the ubuntu live
installer and with the kubuntu live installer called "ubiquity". I copy the
output of popup window. Sorry for my bad english.
