Agreed, random lockup seems to have stopped on this hardware. I'm using the 3.0 kernels on lucid now btw.

However, about a week ago, I took the video card out to see if the lockup issue had been resolved. So far, things have been running very smoothly on the same hardware and configuration that was having problems before (the eMachines T8284 with device "VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)"). Still running lucid, current kernel version is 2.6.32-41, and the i915 module is loaded. None of the optional PPAs listed in the bug description are enabled. There doesn't seem to be much activity related to this bug, so maybe a fix for another bug took care of it?
