Public bug reported: The configuration of alien-arena is set up as a symlink:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 jonathan jonathan 34 Jul 18 16:39 alien-arena -> /usr/share/games/alien-arena/data1 instead of a directory. Alien Arena apparently requires write access to this directory, and refuses to start without it. I was able to repair the installation by copying the data pointed to by the symlink into a directory, which replaced the symlink: cp -Lr alien-arena alien-arenax rm alien-arena mv alien-arenax alien-arena ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: alien-arena 7.53+dfsg-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-26.41-generic 3.2.19 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-26-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Jul 18 16:43:23 2012 InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120424) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: alien-arena UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: alien-arena (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1026322 Title: Configuration symlink instead of directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alien-arena/+bug/1026322/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
