Ok, so I tried installing the latest oneiric kernal through the mainline builds. However, this failed on loadup with the first error being: 'Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown block (0,0)"
So I then tried to install the 3.0.27 kernel from here: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.0/ following these instructions: http://mitchtech.net/compile-linux-kernel- ubuntu-12-04-lts/ . However this has not shown up in grub (even after doing a sudo update-grub). I didn't really go through the graphical configuration part (as I was under the impression the 'oldconfing' and 'localmodconfig' took care of setting the defaults). I cannot tell you from memory that a previous kernel works either, as this is the very first Ubuntu OS I have installed on this computer (this computer is a couple of weeks old or so). Should I try to go back further in kernel history to find a kernel that works, or persist on finding a solution to making the oneiric kernel work (or something else entirely)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1026013 Title: Libreoffice writer freezes precise on startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1026013/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
