Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I'm running an up-to-date gutsy system.

When I start update-manager to install the daily updates, it doesn't install
them.
When I click on "Install Updates" only the "Checking for Updates" dialog
appears and I'm back at the start.
It doesn't matter if I start update-manager from gnome-terminal or from the
tray icon.

The output from the console doesn't nothing helpful for me:

$ update-manager

***MEMORY-WARNING***: update-manager[21853]: GSlice: g_thread_init() must be
called before all other GLib functions; memory corruption due to late
invocation of g_thread_init() has been detected; this program is likely to
crash, leak or unexpectedly abort soon...

called before all other GLib functions; memory corruption due to late

But it works if I use "gksu update-manager" and click then "Install
updates".

$ gksu update-manager
