Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: upstart-compat-sysv
Selecting single-user mode from the grub menu gives a root login.
However, when exiting, this root login doesn't proceed to the
appropriate runlevel, but merely gives an indication that the shell has
exited.
It is necessary to press ctrl-alt-del to reboot from there; machines
with ctrl-alt-del disabled will need a hard reset.
It may have been related to the fact that I ran a daemon (gpsd) while at
the root shell.
