Ubuntu 12.10 amd64 desktop with kernel 3.5.0-x 3.4.0 series does
NOT panic .
no logging was done since when the kernel panics the system is immediately
dead .
the panics may occur during boot , after login to the desktop , after opening
an application , completely random .
