Public bug reported:

Hello!

The elements on this bug-report form have me doubting myself about
whether I am in the right place. I put "alsa-driver" for the package,
although I do not really know what package is the source of my problem.
I'm an end user who would like to be a coder and sysadmin, but find it
all very difficult and overwhelming, and keep trying anyway.

Rather than typing all the details in here, I hope it is ok for me to
refer you to my previous forum posts for help, which have gotten no
response other than three people saying they have similar problems.

If you search Google for "strange audio feedback ubuntu", my posts
about this problem come up as the first three hits.

I have been doing some reading and have gotten a general idea about the
uses of alsa vs oss. A guy at the oss project recommended I just
install oss. I would rather find out why this happens in ubuntu and not
suse and change that difference if possible.

Please let me know about any additional info you need from me to
diagnose this.

Thanks

Bill
