marco_costa, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue, could you run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number> Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20 ubuntu 8.04 release 8.04 dvd burning is slow, just 4x with 16x media. my drive's a pioneer dvr-212. i only have sata in my system, actually I bought a sata dvd to replace my old IDE thinking that it'd fix the problem. when using brasero top shows me that the processor is in 50%ish wait most of the time, during checksumming and writing. and, after 15 min checksumming and about 10 minutes burning it ended with an error. another coaster. i'll attach the log of it to the report as well. + + Architecture: amd64 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=c734a6ca-2e71-44f5-a995-e1c2265c69f2 + Lsusb: + Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub + Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + MachineType: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. 945GCM-S2L + NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia + Package: linux-image-2.6.30-9-generic 2.6.30-9.10 + PackageArchitecture: amd64 + ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.30-9-generic root=UUID=bfb5005f-2767-4b73-bbee-8ff2a855129a ro quiet splash + ProcEnviron: + SHELL=/bin/bash + LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.30-9.10-generic + RelatedPackageVersions: linux-backports-modules-2.6.30-9-generic N/A + Uname: Linux 2.6.30-9-generic x86_64 + UserGroups: adm admin audio cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 03/25/2008 + dmi.bios.vendor: Award Software International, Inc. + dmi.bios.version: F6 + dmi.board.name: 945GCM-S2L + dmi.board.vendor: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAwardSoftwareInternational,Inc.:bvrF6:bd03/25/2008:svnGigabyteTechnologyCo.,Ltd.:pn945GCM-S2L:pvr:rvnGigabyteTechnologyCo.,Ltd.:rn945GCM-S2L:rvr:cvnGigabyteTechnologyCo.,Ltd.:ct3:cvr: + dmi.product.name: 945GCM-S2L + dmi.sys.vendor: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. ** Tags added: hardy karmic ** Tags removed: needs-kernel-logs ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Tags added: kernel-media -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/237397 Title: slow burn and checksum - sata To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/237397/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
