Public bug reported:

There are a number of places in this O/S wherein there is either a GUI
that does not work 100% effectively or there are NUMEROUS functions in
this operating system which are still relegated to being performed by
either some command line/terminal command or by having to go in and
manually edit a configuration file, sometimes with numerous changes and
sometimes one typo can have dire consequences. Certain areas of this
O/S are password protected against outside mischief but then the owner
(the one most likely to mess things up) are allowed into areas that they
perhaps should not be in.

Neither of the above should be. MOST of the people who use computers do
NOT want to learn command line syntax when these same functions can be
programmed into a well functioning GUI tool. Most of us do not want to
be programmers or to commit command line syntax to memory. We just
want a good O/S which we can use to perform applications. And yes, if
that means making it more like windows, then, just do it, as you get
time.

Thanks for your attention to these matters.
