Public bug reported:
1. Insert new usb key
2. use startup disk creator (usb-creator-gtk) with an ubuntu .iso. I used
lubuntu alternate 12.04 i386.
3. test the bootable USB on a computer -- run "check this cd for errors"
4. USB drive fails, where the .iso passed checksum, and cd's burned pass
verification
the file name it fails on (tested with multiple usb keys and computers) is
pxelinux.cfg/default. This appears to be a symlink.
Attempt to copy the file to the USB, and you will find that fat32 (which
usb-creator requires) does not support symlinks.
Thus, verification of bootable usb fails.
