It will be a little time before I can do this, I'm afraid - I'm away for
the next couple of weeks.

Is there any risk of losing other functionality?  I need the laptop to be
able to drive presentations for teaching activity, including video/audio
played via Xine, so I'm slightly nervous about testing stuff!
