Week 30 - Release ubuntu 12.10 Quantal (Intel) with ppa:SIL2100 update. Same issue observed. Following the below steps, typing "chrom" in dash does not show an icon for "home|ubuntu", only 1 icon is shown i.e. Chromium web browser. Assertion 1 - fails.
