Public bug reported:
After the update to kernel 3.2.0-27-generic yesterday, the screen was left
blank after startup. KDM starts fine but no desktop appears. Before the update,
weverything just worked fine.
Purging and reinstalling display drivers (fglrx in my case) didn't help.
In the end it turned out, that indatlling the kubuntu-desktop metapackage
solves the problem. See this post: ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=12124863.
The metapackage was not installed before. That's why I'm reporting that bug
against kubuntu-desktop, although the problem is rather in the upgrade itself.
