Àlex Magaz, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel
in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've
tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested and remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag.
This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag
located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-
upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER', where VERSION-NUMBER is the
version number of the kernel you tested.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER', where VERSION-NUMBER is the
version number of the kernel you tested.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the tag: 'kernel-unable-
to-test-upstream'.

Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:

The computer no longer shuts down properly after upgrading from Ubuntu
- 11.04 to 11.10, it powers on immediately after being shut down. It
- doesn't happen when the WiFi USB card is not plugged.
+ 11.04 to 11.10, it powers on immediately after being shut down.
+
+ WORKAROUND: It doesn't happen when the WiFi USB card is not plugged.

I perform the following the following steps:

  1. Switch to a virtual terminal (no XWindow) and log in.
  2. Run: sudo poweroff
  3. The computer shuts down (I see how all LEDs switch off and hear the hard
drive stopping).
  4. Immediately the computer powers on again.

It also happens if boot with mainline kernels 3.0.22-030022-generic and
3.3.0-030300-generic. The same booting from 11.10 and 12.04 beta 1 live
  CDs.

It doesn't happen when I boot the system with 2.6.38-13-generic (I guess
  from 11.04).

My other PC, also with 11.10, shuts down properly with the same WiFi
  card plugged.

If I boot passing acpi=off to the kernel command line, the computer
  doesn't shut down.
