I already changed to Feisty. Managed to screw up too much stuff playing around with Dapper, so thought I might as well use a later version and get the new Open Office etc.
I've not needed to burn any new data CDs yet, but the CD copy worked with Feisty when I tried it. Could it be there is a permissions problem with a SATA drive in Dapper? In Feisty, the properties of /dev/sg2 is owner:root group:cdrom which I'd say looks like it's set correctly. I've no idea what /dev/sg0 and /dev/sg1 represent. There was another problem I had with Feisty, that of using my Epson 2450 scanner. It won't work at all with USB (but the Fedora developers have probably fixed this) or with Firewire on Feisty, because of an ownership problem. I found that I could fix it with Firewire by adding a udev rule of my own. Maybe this is the case with the SATA optical drive in Dapper but I'm no longer in a position to investigate. Note that I did also have a problem reburning a DVD-RW, which Nero dealt with OK in Windows. I don't burn many CDs or DVDs, but if I have a problem in future I'll log in again and tell all. -- Kubuntu Dapper - Cannot burn CDs on SATA drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115879 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for k3b in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
