Thank you for using Ubuntu and reporting a bug. This really does not
sound like a ufw bug-- it sounds more like the new kernel is not working
properly or it dropped support for features that ufw needs and then ufw
fails before adding the rules to allow ssh access. Do you have access to
the EC2 console? Are you able to ssh into the instance if you disable
ufw, upgrade your kernel and then reboot? If so, can you provide the
/boot/config* files for the previous kernel and the kernel you are
trying to boot into?
