Pink Ink, thank you for testing Lucid. As you noted this worked in Natty, and then after some update it stopped working, indicates a prior issue fixed going from Lucid to Natty, and regressed in Natty by an update.
The next step is to find the kernel regression in Natty that caused this problem.
