i got the same problem and i have try to installed everything search
under Synaptic with ALSA but still no luck.
I am not sure sure my case is the same with this one, but I don't know
how to open a new thread, sorry.
follow is some basic info:
$ uname -r
2.6.20-16-generic
$ aplay -l

$ lspci -v
