Public bug reported:
In eshell (M-x eshell), "sudo service" doesn't work. (It must be an
implementation of sudo from TRAMP.)
~ $ sudo service nmbd status
/bin/sh: 0: Can't open /sudo:root@localhost:/usr/sbin/service
~ $ ls -l /usr/sbin/service
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4768 июля 12 16:47 /usr/sbin/service
~ $ file /usr/sbin/service
/usr/sbin/service: POSIX shell script, ASCII text executable
~ $
Although sudo with other programs from /usr/sbin/ does work, e.g.:
~ $ sudo tcpdump -n
tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode
listening on wlan0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 65535 bytes
....
24 packets captured
28 packets received by filter
0 packets dropped by kernel
~ $ which tcpdump
/usr/sbin/tcpdump
~ $
