Just a loose idea for a solution: I think if fingerprint could be converted to a hash and presented to the OS, it could perfectly fit as a strong password. Then you should be able to encrypt your home using two password (just like you encrypt mail to several people using GPG) – your regular password and the fingerprint hash.
