Followed the provided instructions and upgraded ALSA using DKMS. Unfortunately the latest ALSA package did not fix the problem, so I uninstalled it.
I'm seriously considering returning the Toshiba laptop and exchanging it for another model as I have also had problems with the special function keys that control volume and screen brightness as well as enable/disable the touchpad, bluetooth and wireless. Any recommendations on laptops that have good compatibility with Linux/Ubuntu? I know others that have recently had good experiences and success with Gateway laptops. Thanks for all of your prompt help and support and the tips and recommendations your suggested - all very useful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1035715 Title: [Satellite P850, Realtek ID 280, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all.
