is present in a server installation, I cannot see it in any other
modality .

  Testing Ubuntu server mad64 20120727:
  Performing an installation of lvm encryption at the reboot the screen is 
switched off just after grub.
  To have the system working we need to remove, from the boot line, the splash 
entry.
  Doing so we will have the passphrase request in a black screen.
  If instead we remove the vt_handoff entry the splashscreen will be shown, but 
the passphrase request will appear in a bad position at the center of the 
screen on a background purple with Ubuntu 12.10 written.
