Answer to #4 is that it's not installed by default. tjaalton says it
wouldn't be needed in this case anyway.
#2 may be the same as #1021104.
#1 is because of #3.
#3 is because vmware-tools is not building, which presumably means that
it needs updated to work with the new X stack. We've pinged Prf_Jakob
who works with us on vmware updates. Can you attach the build errors
you're getting? We'll focus this bug report on that issue.
