But one of the very heavy diseases is the overkill in functions. KDe 4 started more blandly as 3, but it's getting quickly into the same overkillness again. See the kmail right-click menu on an email (attachment) It is, with one word, confusing, the first time you open it. A good third of the functions could be purged. One thing that has urgently get changed is the following. the item "Mark message >" opens a new submenu, and this lists ALL the sentences again: Mark Message as Read Mark Message as New Mark Message as Unread Mark Message as Important Mark Message as Action Item This ist completely redundant. Just make an item: "Mark Message as >" Read New Unread Important Action Item This is much more clear. Sadly this issue affects many, many other KDE menus as well. I guess this is a reminiscence of those times, where the full context must be in every menu and submenu. If they are not going back, then I like your wish. In that list, having just "Read" would not clearly indicate which action was being configured, and it would not distinguish between "Mark Message as Read" and "Mark Thread as Read". Maybe this bug should be assigned to kdelibs, to suggest having two strings associated with each action: one which will appear in a menu, and the other longer one to appear in the shortcut list or anywhere else where there is no surrounding context. Changing bug title to better reflect the issue. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented. Thank you for your understanding.
