I haven't run Ubuntu for several years now (I think 8.04 was the last I used), so I can't really comment on this issue and previous versions.
I have been running off kernel 3.6.0-030600rc2-generic for the last couple days now. Support of the mouse is greatly improved, but it has still frozen a couple times. Once upon startup the USB receiver wasn't recognized until I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Another time it froze upon opening Libre Calc and another time I moved the mouse out of range of the USB receiver and it did not register the mouse when I brought it back into range. Unplugging and plugging back in the USB receiver fixed both of the last two instances. It's not consistent, though, and I can't systematically recreate the bug. I'm, therefore, not sure if I should tag this as existing upstream or not.
