I have been, as a pastor, involved in a mission project and have been unable to follow through on the Xiphos problem. I notice that the report has expired.
Unfortunately, the problem is still here. I try to launch Xiphos 3.1.4 and all I get is the splash screen for about a second. It shows the open Bible and the word Xiphos with a bar at the bottom labeled "Loading Settings." But, then, when the bar shows that loading is complete, the splash screen closes and so does the program. My operating system is Ubuntu 10.10. I have plans to upgrade later this fall. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 6400. Neither Synaptic nor the Software Center will let me upgrade Xiphos to the latest version. I have been using the Windows version of Xiphos in WINE and it works OK, but I prefer to work in Ubuntu. Also, I am concerned that my operating system may not be reliable enough for maintaining critical Xiphos files, such as prayer requests and journal notes. >From the previous time that I reported this bug, I have installed more extensions for GTK, thinking that maybe something was missing. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Xiphos using Synaptic and the option for "complete removal." I appreciated the tremendous response and effort the help earlier. Maybe something will work this time.
