Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-vtk

I run Ubuntu Dapper Drake LTS. Run 'mayavi', or 'SpherePuzle.py' of VTK
examples, or anything else with Python-VTK-Tkinter inside. It crashes during
its startup with the output of (the exact numbers varies according to crashed
applications):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 1 (X_CreateWindow)
Serial number of failed request: 49
Current serial number in output stream: 52
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I saw something like it on one Debian host long time ago. It was due to
incompatibilities of python-vtk libraries. The libraries had to be just
recompiled on a host with the same libraries as used for the
distribution. Herein, both Python with VTK, and Python with Tkinter
work. Though the combination through 'from
vtk.tk.vtkTkRenderWindowInteractor import vtkTkRenderWindowInteractor'
does not work. The same code works fine on my other (Debian based)
hosts.

** Affects: vtk (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
