Actual brightness is always maximum (i.e. much too bright...). If I boot "normally" , screen brightness keys have no effect at all. If I boot adding the "acpi_backlight=vendor" option, then the brighness hotkeys cause the corresponding pop-up level bar to display (modulo bug #971734), still there is no change on actual screen brightness.
