Public bug reported:

I am running Kubuntu 12.04 (64-bit), and have been experiencing
overlapping icons in the task bar. It seems to start once the task bar
fills up and I start maximizing and minimizing applications such as
Thunderbird, Jitsi, or Skype, which minimize to the system tray.

I tried installing KDE 4.9 from the backports repository, but the same
behavior persists.

$ dolphin --version
Qt: 4.8.2
KDE Development Platform: 4.9.00
Dolphin: 2.1

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:    Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Release:        12.04

Attached is a screen shot that shows what it starts to look like.
