Should casper be attempting to load every module it can for meda such as
CD-ROMs, so that it doesn't miss any? It seems like this is what the d-i
installer does.

** Summary changed:

- Ubiquity does not load piix CD-ROM module.
+ Casper does not load piix CD-ROM module.

** Description changed:

-
  When installing Fiesty gold with the desktop Live CD, certain CD-ROMS
  are not recognized, such as Sony's CRX880A. This is due to the fact that
  Fiesty does not probe the piix driver (note: not the same as ata_piix).

  This causes problems with certain Dell Lanai (Inspiron 1420) laptops, which
  come standard with this CD-ROM. The issue has been worked around by
  using the 'break=top' kernel directive, and executing 'modprobe piix; exit'.

  This issue does not appear to happen using the d-i alternative installer, but
  only happens using the Ubiquity installer (which is shipped with the Lanai).

** Changed in: casper (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: linux-source-2.6.20 => casper
     Assignee: (unassigned) => Michael Morgan

** Also affects: redfish (upstream)
   Importance: Undecided
       Status: New
